Insight from my daughter…

As I returned from a business trip, I unpacked the overnight bag, sorted laundry, put items away and hung a suit in the closet… and that’s when my daughter made a comment. She said “Dad, why does the one hanger say Hilton on it?” I said, “it was from the hotel.” Her response was, “then you took it?” Oh boy, now what do I say? So I explained that it was taken accidentally and her suggestion was “well, then we should go the post office and return it – it’s the responsible thing to do Dad.” That’s exactly what we did.

A different view of responsibility – especially at this level of detail, but holding me to the measurement that God and the Church has held me to (and I have probably told her thousands of times). And this is when I asked, do I have this level of the responsibility when it comes to my Church? With my Time, Talents and Treasures? As Steward of the Orthodox Church? Tough standards but it is our Salvation!
